The offices of Walker and Stevens are located at 650 Main St., in the village of Barboursville, West Virginia, nestled in the southwestern part of the state. Matt and Jeff are native West Virginians who often travel to the southern part of the state, and intend to specialize in health care issues, primarily in West Virginia. Over the years, Matt and Jeff have become acquainted with various health care associations, entities, legislators, and consultants that will serve as valuable resources in their representation.
Matt Walker is a 2003 summa cum laude graduate of Concord University with an interdisciplinary degree in business, geography, and social work, and a 2007 graduate of the West Virginia University College of Law. Matt was born and spent his early years in Lincoln County. He has completed formal assessments of access to health care and health care needs assessments for Lincoln, Wayne, and Clay Counties and developed a system of low cost sampling and data integration used by four West Virginia local county health departments to complete required county needs assessments. Matt has completed law school courses in health care law, including health care and business torts, intellectual property, internet law, environmental law, workers compensation law, and administrative law. His special interests are delivery of health care to rural people and rural community advocacy. In 2006, Matt received the CALI award from Professor Patrick McGinley for his outstanding performance in the area of environmental justice.
Jeff Stevens is a 2003 summa cum laude graduate of the University of Kentucky with a degree in accounting and a 2007 graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Law. A native of Barboursville and Wayne County, West Virginia, Jeff has special interests in rural health data analysis, economic implications of rural health care systems, and rural workforce development. He has completed law courses in healthcare organizations and finance, advanced taxation, administrative law, employment law, internet law, non-profit organizations, medical liability, and alternative dispute resolution. In 2006, Jeff lectured a seminar regarding his article entitled, Tax Shelters in the 21st Century: Is the Current Lull in Tax Shelter Activity a Result of Economic Recession or Has Congress Finally Closed the Loopholes?
